Europe is the cradle of universities. Yet - among the leading 200 or 500 universities European universities do not dominate - on the contrary. The European Union declared that its goal is to achieve high competitiveness knowledge-based economy by 2010 and to become sustainable knowledge society by 2025. How close is Europe in achieving that goal?
